Back Day – I’m so sore after yesterday!

I’m amazed at how sore I am, I thought I didn’t do enough volume but apparently I did more than enough yesterday. My triceps have never been sore after doing chest (I put that down to the dips). Feels awesome though.

Here’s what went down today, first back session of the summer.Yates Row
20kg x 10
50kg x 8
80kg x 8
110kg x 8

Close Grip Pulldown
47kg x 6
67kg x 6
87kg x 6
105kg x 5

Cable Seated Row
47kg x 6
67kg x 6
87kg x 6
107kg x 4

DB Row
30kg x 8
36kg x 8
40kg x 8

Rack Pull
110kg x 8
160kg x 8
200kg x 6

Couldn’t catch my breath after the DB rows and felt pretty hypoglycaemic afterwards. Glad tomorrow is my rest day – just fasted cardio in the morning and I’m good.

The aim is to get the BB rows back to 130kg (shouldn’t be too hard to do since 110 was easy) and to also get the rack pull upto around 260kg by the end of summer. I have a feeling that’s going to be easier said than done!

Looking forward to my day off tomorrow.

That sounds like a pretty intense workout! Out of curiosity, is your routine designed primarily to build strength, or to build muscle and look good? Also, what routine might you suggest to build muscle and look good?

Alpha, this routine is mostly to add mass and look good. That's my main aim for this summer; I don't feel like I need to get stronger (although I wouldn't mind that happening lol).
I will switch to lower rep ranges and heavier weights (strength training) in the future though to increase the density of my muscles and bones and then alternate between building muscles and strength.
